History
The Association began life in 1976 as the ACT Batik Association, was incorporated in 1992, then the name changed to the ACT Batik & Surface Design Association Inc. In 1998 it was again renamed to Textile Art & Surface Design Association Inc. ACT (TASDA) to reflect the range of talents, varied techniques and expertise of its members. At our most recent AGM we have voted to again rename the group ACT Textile Arts Association (ACTTAA) and the logo and website reflect this recent change.

Membership
For the minimal fee of $35 (which includes associate membership of the Canberra Irish Club) you receive a quarterly newsletter on textile events in our region as well as access to the meeting activities at our monthly meetings and, of course, the fantastic workshops given by the talented members of our Association throughout the year. It also gives you the opportunity to be a part of our Annual Exhibition and access to discounted specialist supplies. Once a year we also travel as a group to Sydney to attend the Australian Craft & Quilt Fair and visit specialist supply stores. Half year membership from July to December costs $18 (for new members only). Discount membership is available in special circumstances, please contact the Membership Secretary.

Please pay for your membership by enclosing your payment and completed membership form in an envelope marked with your name and 'membership' and deliver to the membership bucket at the monthly meeting. Alternatively send a cheque (made out to ACT Textile Arts Assoc.) with the completed membership form to 'ACT Textiles Membership Form', PO Box 116, Curtin  ACT  2605.
