The Living Reef - Exhibition 2008
The Theme for 2008—The Living Reef—reflects the UN International Year of the Reef in the context of global warming. This title should allow members a wide range of expression. As usual you are encouraged to research beyond just the physical and obvious aspects of the theme for inspiration for your exhibition entries.

The exhibition will be held on the weekend of the 18th - 21st September, 2008.

The 2008 Raffle item for members to make will be an item of personal adornment (this could be a necklace, bracelet, earrings) made from fabric or beads with an accompanying presentation box.

We need volunteers to organise the following:

Auditor, we need a fine up-standing citizen to audit our accounts. Please let us know if you know someone who could do the job.

Newsletter distribution, To streamline the work involved in newsletter distribution, please let the newsletter editor, Anne Dickens, know if you would like to receive email notification of the newsletter. For those who would be happy to receive their newsletter by email, electronic delivery has some advantages in that you can see the photos in colour, and where there are references to outside information you just need to click on the link to access it immediately. If you would be happy to receive your copy of the newsletter electronically can you please let me know at andybits@optusnet.com.au. Also tell me if you would like it sent as a link when the newsletter is added to our website, or whether you would prefer it as an attachment to the email. Please make sure the email address you give me is a reliable one and that your mailbox will accept a large document. If your address is a work one, it might not be reliable because of security blockers preventing delivery.

On the other hand, I know many of us like to collect the newsletter from the mailbox, and sit down with ‘a cuppa’’ to read it and I do not want to spoil that pleasure!! For those who prefer not to have electronic delivery, your newsletter will continue to come to you by post.

The newsletter comes out quarterly, in February, May, August & November.

Next AGM – March 2009
Because of the recent changes to our Constitution, we are required to move the date of the Annual General Meeting to fit with our financial year. This means that there will not be an AGM in October this year. The next AGM will be March 2009.

Workshop enrolments
Our tutors have been putting in hours of preparation into a workshop only to find it cancelled at the very last minute due to insufficient paid enrolments. The Committee has decided that all payments must be in two (2) weeks before the workshop. Your payment reserves your place in a workshop and ensures that it will proceed.

ACTTAA’s gear
ACTTAA owns a collection of equipment which has recently been sorted and culled of tired old tat. All ACTTAA’s property is stored in a shed, generously lent, on a member’s property. This includes equipment for use in the annual exhibition.

This equipment is not for general borrowing and is not available at a moment’s notice, as items need to be kept in good condition for the exhibition, displays and workshops throughout the year. Many items have gone missing in the past and are then not available when needed. All queries about stored items are to go to the President, Mary Bates.
