February 3 Lunch at 12.00 noon at Black Pepper Cafe & Bar, 63/1 Beissel St, Belconnen
Then visit the exhibition Backyard Project: Libertea, Maternitea, Realita at the Belconnen Arts Centre.
Celebrating 20 years of the Majura Women’s Group Backyard Projects, mothers with young children explore a tea party theme in constructed textiles using recycled and found materials. Convening artist Ann McMahon has inspired participants to use recycled materials and basketry techniques to create sculptural works celebrating connections and friendships which have been forged over tea and conversations during the workshop sessions.”
   
  ACTTAA Project Presentation February 7 Presentation of the Mitre and Cope made by members to the Archbishop of Wangaratta Diocese at a Remembrance Service at Alexandra, Victoria 10:00am. Our local ABC TV will feature the project in a Stateline program on either 5th or 12th February (date to be confirmed).

Cecile Whatman Workshop — Surface Design
Surface Design — In this class, you explore a broad range of products to alter the fabric surface, both colour and texture.  Media used range: fabric paints, pigments, Shiva sticks, and textural pastes and mediums. Techniques range from sponging, painting, stencils, sprays and screen-printing. Generally, you will end up with a range of fat quarter or eighth sized pieces, which can be incorporated into projects or built into a sample "book" for future reference.

Bonnie Begg and Christine White – Tea Gowns
Think about an elegant afternoon tea party and take a trip to your favourite Op Shop to search for old tablecloths, doilies, laces etc, etc which will be turned into a special gown for these occasions.  You could also use natural fabrics in your stash which could be dyed and embellished.

Wed 22nd — Fly into Wellington.
Thu 23rd — Day in and around Wellington, visit Te Papa the National Museum with a behind the scenes visit to Textile areas. Evening the WOW Show. Your tickets will be pre booked and part of the cost.
Fri 24th — ferry to Sth Island and on to Nelson.
Sat 25th — Nelson's famous Saturday Markets, visit the Wow museum go shopping.
Sun 26th — Travel from Nelson down the Kaikoura Highway to Christchurch. Drive past seals sunbathing near the road and then continue with some of the most magnificent mountain scenery you'll see anywhere in the world.
Mon 27th — Day in and around Christchurch.
Tues 28th — fly home.
If you wish to add days at the beginning and/or end please feel free.
Our costs last time were approx $2000.00 and we are expecting it to be around the same. That included accomodation, flights, travelling, entry to some things, our WOW Show tickets, ferry. It did not include meals. The hotels did not offer bed and breakfast but most had a standard price for breakfast and some people breakfasted in cafes in the cities.
I hope this whets your appetite and you feel you can join us. Please let the Members Secretary know ASAP as bookings for WOW open on Feb 7th.
